My Top Five Places To Eat In Glasgow

Hello!

Welcome to my blog where every Friday for the next five weeks I’ll be posting about some of the amazing places I’ve eaten at around the world. My first post will centre around my favourite restaurants in the city I was born and raised in- Glasgow. I am in no way a food connoisseur but I am addicted to eating out meaning that my list of favourites is infinite but I’ve managed to narrow it down and select my top five and here it is…

 5. Paesano Pizza, Miller Street

I have never been to Italy and therefore have never had ‘authentic’ Italian Pizza but my guess is Paesano’s pizza comes very close and is without a doubt the BEST pizza I have ever had! The restaurant offers nine different pizzas with my personal favourites being numbers four (mozzarella and basil) and six (spicy salami and mozzarella).

4. The Wilson Street Pantry, Merchant City

I have never really been one for going out for breakfast/brunch until I ate at The Wilson Street Pantry last year and now I’m obsessed. At the Pantry, they serve a variety of brunch meals with my favourite being their Eggs Benedict accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice and a cappuccino.

3. ‘BABS, West Nile Street

‘BABS is a Mediterranean restaurant that offers a variety of street food dishes including variations of the beloved kebab. It is the perfect place to go if your looking for something a bit different from the standard burger and chips (which is also a good option). My go-to dishes are the Sirloin Steak Iskender and the best Halloumi Fries I've ever had (a very big statement from a halloumi addict).

2. Tinto Tapas, Uddingston

Tinto provides an authentic Spanish experience with its variety of tapas dishes and Paella. My favourite dishes are the Langostinos (deep fried prawns), Patata y Queso (sliced potatoes with cream, garlic and cheese) and Chicken and Chorizo Paella which I follow up with Churros with chocolate sauce for dessert.

1. Riva, Bothwell

Riva has been my favourite place to eat for many years now. It serves a variety of Italian dishes including my favourite, Tagliatelle salmone e pesto. Not only does it serve the Italian food I’ve ever eaten, but it also introduced to me to one of my favourite Italian desserts 'Affogato' (vanilla ice cream served with a shot of hot espresso).

And there we have it, my top five favourite places to eat in Glasgow! If you haven’t been to any of these places I strongly recommend you give them a try.

Until Friday,

6 Best Places To Eat in Bratislava, Slovakia

Last month I visited Slovakia's capital city, Bratislava! To be perfectly honest I went with low expectations as in my opinion, it is not a very popular tourist destination that I hear of many people visiting, however, my expectations were greatly exceeded. With its attractive sights, quirky vintage shops and its stunning cathedral, Bratislava has a lot to offer but the best part of my trip was of course the food. I can honestly say there was not a single meal that I had in the five days I was there that wasn't exceptional and well above average, but if I told you about every single place I ate at this short post would turn into a novel, so instead I've selected the most memorable six... 6. Pollito Cheesecake I am a lover of all things sweet (especially chocolate) meaning that I always have room for dessert and one of my favourite desserts of all time is cheesecake which is why it was imperative for me to visit Pollito. The cafe offered a small but an ama...

Big Feed, Glasgow

For my final blog post I’ve come full circle and back to the place where my blog began – Glasgow. I had originally planned to post about a different city in every post but this was too good not to share with you all and so this week’s post is about Scotland’s biggest indoor street food market- Big Feed. Big Feed (like I said) is a street food market located in Govan and takes place every couple of weeks. It offers a wide selection of street food varying from Greek kebabs to loaded hot dogs and even churros, with the stalls varying each time the event is held.  In addition to the assortment of delicious food stalls and bar service, Big Feed also provides entertainment with live music and DJs and also retro video games, meaning there is truly something for everyone (they even have dog treats for your pets). There is a small fee of £2 to gain entry into the market however, free parking is available onsite and the food is also reasonably priced for what you...

Mercado de San Miguel, Madrid

In my previous blog posts I've expressed my love for various things including Spanish tapas, street food and my greatest love of all, dessert. Therefore, this week's blog post will centre around a place which offers it all- the famous 'Mercado de San Miguel' (or the Market of San Miguel in English). This gastronome's paradise is located in Madrid's old quarter and is one of the most popular and oldest food markets in Madrid as it dates back to the early 1900's. The market offers a wide selection of food with there being over twenty different stalls serving the likes of tapas, antipasto, paella, seafood dishes, fresh fruit, sweet pastries and even alcohol. The centre of the market acts as a dining area where everyone can sit together to enjoy their food. With there being such a huge variety of stalls to choose from I really struggled to decide which ones to eat from but I ended up having bruschetta with mozzarella, chicken and chorizo paella (t...
